Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Applicants

Medical

  • Vision 20/70 correctable and free of color blindness.
  • Must pass AF Hearing Test
  • Must meet AF height and weight requirements.
  • Physically fit and able to run 1 ½ miles in under 12 minutes.
  • FAA First Class Medical

Age

  • You must be 31 years of age or younger prior to commencing flight training. (30 Aug 1994)

Test Performance

OUTSIDE OF THE COANG, MIN TEST SCORES LISTED BELOW

Education

  • You must have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Becoming a Fighter Pilot

Your journey to become a combat qualified fighter pilot will take years. Selected UPT Candidates will
undergo:

  • Officer Training School (OTS)

    6 Weeks

  • Initial Flight Screening (IFS)

    (Waived with PPL)

  • Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT)

    1 year

  • Water Survival School

    1 week

  • High-G Centrifuge Training

    1 day

  • Survival Evasion Resistance Escape Training (SERE)

    3 weeks

  • Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals (IFF)

    8 weeks

  • F-16 Basic Course

    8 months
